Giant Emus are large, 2 person rideable creatures that allow players to travel at high speed and deal damage to Super Animals, Hamster Balls, destructibles and other Giant Emus.

Giant Emu
- The original Giant Emu has average speed, defense, and attack, which means you might be tempted to call it “average,” but be warned it much prefers the term “well-balanced.”
Chonk Emu
- A thick, fatty hide provides extra protection against bullets.
Speedy Emu
- A slim build makes this Emu super speedy, which is good.
Battle Emu
- The rarest breed of all, Battle Emus boast the ultimate combination of damage, health and speed. The knife secured to its bridle adds an extra sting to its pecks, and enables its woodworking hobby.
Behavior[ | ]
Controls & Movement[ | ]
- The front rider controls the Giant Emus and its peck attack, while the back rider uses a jockey whip to trigger a speed boost.
- Giant Emus can sneak if the rider is holding down the "Creep (Sneak Quietly)" action, by default CtrlPC PS Xbox/Switch Joy-Con.
- Giant Emus travel faster than Super Animals but slower than Hamster Balls, unless jockeyed by a second rider.
- There is a 0.25 second delay after dismounting the Giant Emu before the Super Animal is able to use weapons.
- Giant Emus will roam short distances when they don't have a rider. However they should wait in place for a few seconds after dismounting.
- If a Giant Emu is hurt while no rider is present, it will start to panic and run in random directions. This can also be observed when a Giant Emu is in Super Skunk Gas.
Attacking[ | ]
- Players can use Giant Emus to melee attack Super Animals, Hamster Balls, destructibles and other Giant Emus. Attacks will do 35 points of damage or 45 if it’s a Battle Emu. If a Super Animal is wearing Armor, they will only take 10 points of damage or 15 if it’s a Battle Emu, and each peck will remove one tick of armor.
- Giant Emus receive a slight slowdown in movement for about a second after attacking.
Health[ | ]
- Giant Emus have from 140 to 190 Health Points depending on breed, and are equipped with a health bar indicator on their saddle. They will also change visual appearance as they take damage.
- Giant Emus standing next to a lit Campfire will slowly replenish health.
- Players can make Giant Emus peck Coconuts and Mushrooms to instantly restore 10 HP to the Giant Emu.
- Emus can also eat Speed Mushrooms to gain the speed boost effect.
- Emus however cannot eat Skunk Mushrooms, instead they attack and break them.
- Giant Emus will absorb most damage for the Super Animals riding it, but explosions, Super Skunk Gas and Skunk Bombs gas will still harm each rider.
- When all players riding the Giant Emu are of same team, allied players won't be able to damage the Giant Emu as that would count as friendly fire (exception to this is when enemy player is riding the Emu as well, in which case friendly fire towards Emu will be allowed).
- Players can now heal the Emu using Dogna's Dart Gun or Dogna's Dartfly Gun as long the teammate is the one who riding it and being unmounted but will poison the Emu if the enemy is the one who riding it.
